It’s only a short trip from London, but Wales, on the western edge of Great Britain, can still feel like a different world. It has its own language, which is spoken fluently by about 20 percent of the population and written on signs throughout the region, though everyone of course also speaks English. Rolling hills and mountains, castles and seaside towns make Wales the perfect place for activities such as horseback riding, mountain climbing or sailing. Cardiff, the capital city, is young and creative.
